Carlton Theodore “Ted” “Old Papa” Schoettler, 89, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Thursday July 31, 2014. Ted lived in the Chattanooga and North Georgia area for more than 50 years. He is a retired cabinet maker and had worked with The Sam Raider Company for many years. He enjoyed square dancing, loved bible study and witnessing for the Lord and spending time in prayer. He was a member of Bible Way Baptist Church for 25 years. Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Wilhelm Bernhardt and Hazel Blanche Whitsell Schoettler. Ted is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Ardeth Schoettler; sons, Ted (Dee) Schoettler, Peter Schoettler, and Phillip (Denise) Schoettler all of Ringgold; daughter, Rachel Clowers of Fort Oglethorpe; grandchildren, Melanie Evans, Kevin Schoettler, Kari Farmer, and Damon Clowers; great-grandchildren Abi and Amber Evans, and Teagan Lee Schoettler. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Vincent Estill officiating. Interment will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
