Virginia Truslow Neal, 94, of Chattanooga died Wednesday, December 23, 2009 in a local health care center.
Virginia was born in Draper, NC on January 7, 1915. She was a graduate of the Women's College of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and taught elementary school in High Point until her marriage to Francis Maxwell Neal in 1936.
Virginia and Francis lived most of their lives in Knoxville where they were faithful members of the Church Street United Methodist Church. There she taught the four year old Sunday School for many years and was an active member of the Christian Home Class. She was a long time member of the Ossoli Circle.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Francis Maxwell Neal; parents, Grover and Sadie Truslow; three brothers, Jake, Maynard and Frank Truslow; two sisters, Pauline Lauder and Ruth Mitchell.
She is survived by her two sons, Francis Maxwell Neal,Jr. and wife Lillian of Campbell Hall, New York and Charles Truslow Neal and wife Brenda of Signal Mountain, TN; two brothers, Roy Truslow, Reidsville, NC and Joe Truslow, Lumberton, NC; Five grandchildren, Ginger Gross, Nashville; Greg Neal, Dunedin, FL; Mark Neal and Carter Newbold, Signal Mtn., TN; and Amy Ostrowski, Roswell, GA; ten great-grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 26 in the Chapel of Church Street United Methodist Church of Knoxville, TN.
