Name: Robert Darrel Tipton Date: June 11th, 1928 - February 3rd, 2010 Obituary: Robert D. Tipton, 81, of Chattanooga, died Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at his home. Mr. Tipton was a member of Woodland Park Baptist Church and it’s Agape Sunday School class. He retired from U.S. Steel with 39 years of service. Mr. Tipton was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Tipton and a sister Mary Helen Burke. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Patsy Tipton, four sons, Michael Tipton, Valapraiso, IN; Rev. David Tipton, Samuel Tipton, both of Hobart, IN; JohnTipton, Chicago, IL; three daughters, Patricia Carroll, Betendorf, IA; Wendy Tipton, Chattanooga; Linda Hakim, Scottsdale, AZ; brother, Paul Tipton, Sevierville, TN; Sister, Sylvia Ammons, Rockford, TN; fifteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren and three nieces. Services will be held Friday at 1 P.M. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. David Tipton officiating. Interment will be in National Cemetery with military honors.
