Name: Dr. Homer Stanley Smith, Jr. Date: April 3rd, 1927 - February 6th, 2010 Obituary: Dr. Homer Smith, 82, Rossville, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 6, 2010. A native of Bristol, Tennessee, he had been a longtime resident of the Chattanooga and North Georgia areas where he had pastored and founded several Baptist churches including Immanuel Baptist, North Georgia Baptist Tabernacle, and Tri-County Baptist Temple. Dr. Smith was founder and executive director of Word for the World Baptist Ministries which serves over 55 missionary families in over 23 countries around the world. . He had preached in over 40 different countries throughout his life. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy serving over 20 years serving in World War II and the Korean War Survivors are wife, Elena Sera Smith; daughter, Cyndie (Rudy) Stembridge, Rossville, Marianne (Ron) Mucci, Flat Rock, Michigan, Susan (Ted) Miller, Cleveland, Tenn., Megan (Billy) Levise, South Lyon, Michigan; son, Greg Smith, Hawaii; sister, Betty Gail Anderson, Bristol, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one nephew. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Liberty Baptist Church, Chickamauga, Ga., with Pastor Chris Staub, Pastor Mike Keenan, Pastor Mike Collingwood, Pastor Charlie Andrews, Pastor Rick Ball and Rudy Stembridge officiating.
