Whitmire Date: October 6th, 1930 - February 15th, 2010 Obituary: Marvin Jackson (MJ) Whitmire, 79, of Spring City, TN went home to be with his Lord, along with his wife of 59 years, Dorothy Whitmire on Monday, February 15, 2010. Mr. Whitmire retired from DuPont after 33 years of service. He was a longtime member and deacon at Apison Baptist Church and most recently at First Baptist Church in Spring City, TN. Mr. Whitmire was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur B. and Rosalee Whitmire; brother, Paul Whitmire. He is survived by his daughters, Wanda (Lanny) Bell, Regina (Neil) Johnston; sons, Van (Kathie) Whitmire and Wendell (Karen) Whitmire; sister, Betty Jo Oliver; sister in law, Louise Whitmire; grandchildren, Wendy (Mark) Woody, Jennifer (Kevin) Reece, Lindsey (Mike) Watkins, Jason (Kristin) Bell, Amy (Mike) Shirley, Sarah Bell, Montana Johnston, Will Whitmire, Ben (Nicole) Whitmire and Kristin Whitmire; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Caleigh and Jackson Reece, Micah, Rebekah and Blake Woody, Clay and Cate Watkins and Tristan Shirley; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Thursday at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Brian Price, Pastor Richard Blalock and Dr. LeRoy Sprinks officiating. Interment will follow in Plowman Cemetery in Apison, TN. A memorial service will be conducted at First Baptist Church, Spring City, TN. on Friday at 2 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund at First Baptist Church of Spring City, 374 W. Jackson Avenue, Spring City, TN 37381.
