Katherine Lee Lehmkuhl was born July 1, 1953 in Jacksonville, NC. to Kenneth Karl and Donna Lee (Riggle) Lehmkuhl. She graduated from Indianola High School in 1971 and Simpson College in 1976. She worked as an accountant for Delavan Corporation and IPERS while living in Des Moines.. She was preceded in death by her grandparents and nephew Alex Ostlund. Kathy enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing and being a grandmother. She was an advocate for those less fortunate. She often tutored children that needed one-on-one attention. When departing Des Moines she made a point to give away furniture and household items to refugees that were moving into her apartment complex. She spent the last six months living with her son Doug and his family in Tennessee. Kathy is survived by her son Doug, daughter-in-law Melody and grandaughter Elizabeth of Chattanooga, parents Kenneth and Donna Lehmkuhl of Indianola, sisters Barbara (Craig) Puegner of Eden Prairie MN; Karen (Mike) Ostlund of Iowa City and Tracey Lehmkuhl of Indianola; nieces Jocelyn (Pete) Jourdan; Ashley Puegner and nephews Nathan and Aaron Ostlund.
