Name: Richard Lyons Date: July 2nd, 2010 Obituary: Augusta, Georgia – Richard Lester Lyons, 73, died Friday, July 2, 2010 at University Hospital in Augusta, Georgia. Mr. Lyons lived in the Fort Oglethorpe area most of his life, moving to Augusta in 1998 to be near family. He worked in the Rossville and Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia Post Office for many years retiring in 1998. He was of the Baptist faith attending Maranatha Baptist Church in Chattanooga and Warren Baptist Church in Augusta. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Dora Lyons, brother, Thomas Lyons and a sister, Linda Tidwell. He loved to travel and see new places and most of all spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his daughter, Andra Maples, Augusta; sons and daughters-in-law, Brent and Stacy Lyons, Matthews, North Carolina ,Rob and Cara Lyons, Chattanooga; grandchildren, Tyler and Keith (Angie) Maples, Andrew, Merrily and Emma Lyons, Sawyer, Tucker and Talley Lyons; one great grandchild, Aaron Donate; brother, Russell Lyons, Rock Spring and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 6, 2010 in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Bro. Luther Eslinger officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 PM Monday, July 5, 2010 at Heritage Funeral Home and Crematory, 3239 Battlefield Parkway, Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia.
