John H. Epps, 85, a lifetime resident of Ringgold, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, July 4, 2010.
He was born December 16, 1924 to the late James Epps, Sr. and Beulah Daniel Epps in Tunnel Hill.
He was a retired farmer and mill worker with Sweetwater Rug and a member of Lee's Chapel Methodist Church. He was known for his numerous show Dahlia's he grew every year and was featured in the local newspapers. He was also preceded in death by his brothers James Epps, Jr. and Freddie Epps.
Survivors include his sister, Ruth Partin, Ringgold; nieces, Anita Vlasis, Ringgold and Cheryl (Steve) Ward, Rock Spring; great nephew, Kevin Ward and great niece, Nicole Vlasis.
Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Wednesday July 7, 2010 in the Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Neil Hasty and Rev. R. V. Wells officiating. Eulogy will be given by Chuck Gass. Interment will follow in Lee's Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 PM Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at Heritage Funeral Home and Crematory, 3239 Battlefield Parkway, Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia.
