Obituary:
Edward Earl Tinney Sr, 82 of Chattanooga, passed away Saturday, July 3, 2010 in a local hospital. He was a teacher and principal before serving 31 years as a Park Ranger. Mr. Tinney retired as Chief Historian of Chickamauga Park. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army’s 11th Airborne, serving in World War II and the Korean War. Mr. Tinney was preceded in death by a son, Edward Earl Tinney Jr. and a daughter, Helena Blackman. Survivors include his wife of 62 years Lore Stoll Tinney; son-in-law, Alan Blackman; daughter-in-law, Ruby Tinney; grandchildren, Kristoffer (Nicole) Tinney, Alexander (Kimberly) Tinney, Elizabeth (James) Burgess; great-grandchildren, Connor, Lorelei, Eric, Sadie, and Ashton. Funeral services will be held at the Heritage Funeral Home Chapel - Ft. Oglethorpe on Monday, July 12th, 2010 at 11a.m. with interment at National Cemetery with a U. S. Military Chaplain officiating.
