Obituary:
Mary Louise Hitchcock, 83, of East Brainerd, was lifted into the loving arms of Jesus on Saturday, July 24, 2010. Mary Lou, a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, was also a faithful member of Concord Baptist Church. She had a passion for teaching Bible stories to children's Sunday school classes and served as Superintendent of the Primary Department. Her unyielding faith in God inspired everyone who knew her; her spiritual walk allowed her to touch many lives. Because of her firm spiritual foundation, her family called her their “Rock.” She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Irene Gray, and brother Wilburn Gray. Survivors include her sweetheart of 63 years, William T. Hitchcock, Chattanooga; children, Gay (Mike) Scheunemann; Bill (Melissa) Hitchcock, David (Cheryl) Hitchcock, Anita (Larry) Lewis, Virginia (Ben) Young; sisters, Dorothy Bratcher, Charlotte Almarie Gray, Joyce Wolfe, and Pat Denmark; 9 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Tuesday at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. David King officiating. Interment will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery with grandsons serving as pallbearers. Visit www.heritagefh.com to share words of comfort to the family and view the memorial tribute.
