He was a proud man and had served his country in the U.S. Navy and Catoosa County as Ordinary/Probate Judge. He had attended Berry College, West Georgia College, and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He had been employed by Liberty National Insurance Company, Dupont, had sold real estate, and was a former school teacher. When Harold was younger, he had loved gardening and working on his farm in Woodstation. He loved studying and quoting the Bible. Harold is preceded in death by several siblings and the mother of his children, Margaret Cantrell Yates. He is survived by children, Lamar, Barry, Cliff, and Cindy Yates, and Deborah Y. Spaulding, sisters, Sally Akins, Julia Carlock, Jo Napier Garlapo, Mary Coburn, and brothers, Alan and Bob Yates. Graveside services will be at 11:00 AM Friday at Lakewood Memory Gardens, South with Rev. Bobby Summitt officiating.
